school
project
The children
will mainly come from the families that work the coconut plantations
near Cape Peponi and from nearby fishing camps.
The School will, as a start, offer Kindergarten and primary schooling,
Cape Ltd thereby hopes that an “excuse” from the parents such as “he/she
has to stay home to take care of his/her little brother(s)/sister(s)”
will not qualify since even very small children may enter the school.
Directly connected to this is surely the children’s way to and from
school and Cape Ltd has thought of several solutions including organized
Co. transportation.
The age group in each class may vary since even older children are often
illiterate.
Important: The goal in the future is to keep a low number of pupils
in each class, like this teachers and pupils will have as much time
as possible for each other!
The School will be based on the English School system. English and Swahili,
the two official languages of Tanzania, will be taught as primary languages
French as the third since a great part of Africa is francophone.
School teacher(s) may be employed locally or from abroad and a couple
of interested people are already in contact with us. Not forgetting
there are also Mrs. G Jansson’s teaching qualifications and the ones
of not yet mentioned Mrs. Ann-Francoise Ammann, “soon to become Mrs.
Saevarsson”, who at the moment works as a primary school Teacher in
Switzerland and who will be part of the project from Dec. 2000.
To give the children a “school uniform” is due to the fact that it supplies
the children with a decent outfit, Cape Ltd’s uniform is not the traditional
“English” one, its style is on the contrary rather modern. The school
itself will be located on the 12 Hectares in a peaceful surrounding
with plenty of nature.
