Local Fishermen Safaris
Cape Peponi works very closely with its neighbours and the arrangements
with them really give the guests a chance to go on cheap, very exciting
and very traditional safaris.
A price list for these safaris will be found at Cape Peponi. The guests
will pay Cape Peponi for these trips, the Co. taking 25%, the remaining
profit will be given to the fishermen to split between the families of
their fishing village. 10% out of the total 100% will be kept by Cape
Peponi for the village's own development that includes e.g. generator
and light accessories, a down payment on a bore hole followed by the off
payment of the same etc. The villagers will air their needs and wishes
during village meetings for further discussion. The organization will
be taken care of by Cape Ltd's Directors together with the villagers whom
are all to help out in the work around their businesses in order not to
have any sort of jealousy created along the way. Any problems around this
arrangement are also to be openly discussed during the village meetings.
All the following safaris and trips will follow this arrangement. back

Coral Reef
Safaris
Is something that children love! Local reef fishermen (from the neighboring
fishing village) will take the children, and others that would like to
come, along for a walkabout on the coastal reef, which during low tide
becomes like a "road". The guests will be shown how traditional fishing
is done here and how the reefs multitude of life survives even during
low tide, e.g: octopuses, murenas, mussels, shells, fish and many other
aquatic life forms. This walkabout lasts for a few hours, which is enough
time to enjoy a self prepared picnic. In some cases a pirogue will come
to meet the guests and bring them back to Cape Peponi. back

Local Fishermen
Trips
Are half day or full day trips where the fishermen from the fishing village
bring the guests with them for an experience in traditional fishing techniques
as they leave for their days fishing.
Coastal
Walkabout Safaris
Safaris led by cunning guides that last for one or two days where children
are more then welcome. The local guides will take his/her guests walking
along the beaches and in the coastal vegetation, which can be huge trees,
bush land or palm draped beach fronts. The guide will talk about and show
the regions flora and the fauna, perhaps monkeys, a large range of bird
and butterfly species, insects, reptiles and, depending on the area, other
kinds of wild life such as antelopes, crocodiles and hippopotamus. Each
one carries their own light packing while the Co. supply the necessary
equipment in the case of a planned overnight trip. The night will in such
a case be spent on one of several huge wooden platforms that are built
in the tree tops. Each guest will be supplied with a mosquito net and
the platforms' sides have barriers for security. This is the perfect setting
for an unforgettable night spent under the cover of the Milky Way. A simple
toilet and bathroom commodities are also provided. A pirogue or a smaller
dhow will follow the safari and operate as its supply station and as a
return ticket for those who prefer not to return by foot. The supply station
will bring enough fresh water for drinking, cooking and in order to maintain
a certain (fresh water) personal hygiene. All of the cooking is done over
an open fire.back to top
Dhow Sailing
Trips
Dhow siling trips are for any guest that would like to go for a bit of
a sailing tour with Cape Peponi's neighbors. The trip may last as long
as an entire day and the destination may be chosen by the guest(s) but
the choice can also be suggested by the experiences of the fishermen.
Aquatic
Safaris & Trips
Cape Ltd does not believe in "squared arrangements", therefore its Safaris
and Trips are very flexible and may be combined in several ways, even
so they do follow a certain pattern. For the more adventurous of these
safaris Cape Peponi requests its guests to have valid insurances that
will cover Tanzania in case of an accident. Cape Peponi will as often
as possible arrange for the safaris below to be filmed and these films
may purchased by the guests afterwards. The CO's Dhow will of course not
always be available for the different shorter safaris but in those cases
Cape Peponi's will work together with its fishermen friends and use their
dhows. back to top
Windsurf
Safaris
Are arranged with a guide that takes the more experienced surfers for
long rides inside and outside the coastal reef and out as far as Kilwa
Kisivani Island, Kilwa Kivinje, the 100 Hectares and Songo Manara Island.
Those safaris last for half a day, a full day or two days with breaks
for resting and/or grilling fish on suitable beaches before continuing
to the chosen destination where the wind surfers may have the preference
to take their meal in one of Cape Peponi's friends restaurants. The night
of the two day safaris will either be spent in a Cape Ltd friend's guesthouse,
on a desolated beach or in the camp on the 100 Hectares. The surfers will
be followed by a small dhow which will be their supply station and rescue
boat
in case of any accident or emergency, with the boat returning any such
people to Cape Peponi.back to top
Snorkeling
& Diving Safaris
* within and outside the covering coastal reef
* to the 42 atolls near Cape Peponi
* to Mafia Island and its surrounding coral reefs
* to other nearby places in and around Kilwa Masoko and Kilwa Kisivani.
These trips can last a whole day, several days, or just for a few hours
depending on the destination.
During the longer trips, the clients sleep either on the Dhow, with associates
on the different islands e.g. Songo Songo Islands or on deserted beaches.
Night snorkeling/dives is available, as is snorkeling/diving with sharks.
Other more adventurous experiences are also offered. Food will be included
for safaris longer than half a day. The meals will be eaten on the Dhow,
on an island's deserted beach or on an atoll's white shell-sand. Fishing
will always be available and whatever the catch is it will be prepared
for the guests to enjoy. The guests are at all times accompanied by an
experienced diver even though they are permitted to go diving and snorkeling
on their own.
All divers must have a valid insurance and diving license/certificate
unless they are undertaking such a license with Cape Peponi's diving school.
N.B. As soon as the project has reached its organized business stage more
investment will be put into diving, deep sea fishing and water-skiing
which will mean that Cape Peponi can offer more of those sports. The reasons
for the Co. to go easy on those investments to start with is because it
wants to spend some time checking the national and international markets'
quest.
This is not all, Cape Ltd also want the best and most competent and qualified
of personnel and those are not always that easy to find! The bottom line
is that all above activities will exist no matter what but how much and
how many versions of each is up to the market to decide. back

Specific
Diving Safaris
are those going into the rivers where experienced divers (in most cases
from a cage) may dive with crocodiles and hippopotamuses. A branch of
this is diving safaris with the Dhow on the Rufiji river where dives take
place on the wreck of the WWI German canon boat "The Königsberger". Those
trips and others may also be combined with Deep Sea Fishing and river
fishing. These trips may be arranged according to Diving Clubs' special
requests. Cape Peponi is prepared to make arrangements for a combination
of trips that last as long as a week or even more and where all equipment
is found on the Dhow. back to top
Deep Sea
Fishing Safaris
Those Safaris run outside the coastal coral reef and inside the great
bay and its havens south and west of Kilwa Masoko. The prey is all the
big game living in these waters. The Safaris may last anywhere from half
a day to several days, in the latter case the Dhow serves as base and
home. The trips may go as far as to Mafia Island (approx. 120km) where
"the best big game fishing in the world" is to be found according
to the late Ernest Hemmingway. The game caught will be served on
the Dhow and/or be frozen to be brought back for other Cape Peponi guests
to enjoy. No matter what, Cape Ltd's staff will always encourage the guests
to release their catch back into the ocean, as a matter of fact sometimes
guests will be forced to let a catch go because of its importance in the
environment! Guests can on request be brought as far south as Lindi and
to Mtwara near the Mozambique border (approx. 300 - 400km) and long term
trips can be requested and arranged by Cape Peponi following the same
terms as for the divers. back to top
History
Visit Trips
Guests may at all times, (on a 12h request basis) be brought to Kilwa
Kivinje or Kilwa Kisivani Island by boat or 4x4 for a visit of those two
historical places dating back to 9th century (UNESCO`s World Heritage
list 1981).
The place was an ancient capital of the Sultanat of Ali b. al Hasan and
it was a centre of trade. There are many sites of great interest such
as the great mosque and the palace and other great architectures that
come from the time when Kilwa was very rich from controlling the trade
of gold. Vasco de Gama was very impressed when he arrived in 1500
and saw the beautiful and modern city of Kilwa. And after 5 years the
Portuguese came back and took over the city.
Similar Trips
are available to Songo Songo Island and Songo Mnara Island (ruins from
the 14th-16th century) that are historical sites and in the same time
paradise islands. All versions may be attached to over night arrangements.
N.B: Other destinations may be requested for from Cape Peponi and Cape
Allied Bush Pilots. back to top
Flight Safaris
with Cape Allied Bush Pilots
Are safaris towards the interior and places like: the swamps near Liwale,
along the Matandu the Luwego and the Rufiji rivers and naturally the Selous
Game Reserve itself and its Siguri Falls. Each safari will last anywhere
between a few hours to a day taking the guests for dazzling low flies
that will breath-take any normal person!
The departures are from Kilwa Masoko's airstrip and food and drinks will
be brought along. The trips most breathtaking moments and guests expressions
will be filmed and for sale to the guests, which by the way is a service
as part of most safaris and trips. Those trips may also be combined with
or have as a target a visit and/or overnight in e.g. Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar
or Mt. Kilimanjaro. In case of an overnight stay the guests will be booked
with local contacts and brought to and from the airport/airstrip with
Cape Allied Dalladallas. back to top
Wild Life
Safaris
Cape Ltd would like you to note the following: any man or woman is very
vulnerable in the middle of the bush, especially an unchartered one, and
companies taking tourists for trekking safaris often have insufficient
numbers of men protecting them in case of the worst scenario (even though
they follow the regulations) e.g. an attacking group of lions. For this
reason Cape Ltd follow a very strict no. of Cape Scouts attached to each
group of guests. The balance is as follows: five guests or less are accompanied
by three Cape Scouts and 6 - 12 guests are under the protection of four
or five Cape Scouts, basically this is the maximum quantity of guests
in one group. Cape Scouts are armed with two rifles, one bolt action big
caliber hunting rifle and one pump action shotgun.
Cape Ltd does
not take part in any "Trophy Hunting Safaris" even though the Co.
may go on hunting safaris. Any guest that would enter this category will
have to inform Cape Peponi in advance so that all legal permits may be
organized. The guest will in such a case be accompanied by Cape Scouts
and only be able to shoot a kill that is part of one or several of following
categories: lethal sick or wounded animals, old or for other reasons a
troublesome animal or/and an animal who has gone way passed his/her productive
age and specifically chosen animals meant for meat for the group participating
in the safari.
Examples of animals that are illigal to hunt are Elephant and Rhinoceros.
Cape Ltd may be the only Co. in Africa that on the contrary actually encourage
guests to take part in tracking of orphans and/or animals that e.g. are
wounded and that the Scouts want to capture in order to give the necessary
care. Of course there are exceptions to this if the animal to be tracked
is of a very vicious kind, which is the case with buffalos and leopards.
N.B. Following arrangements are effective for any trek that lasts over
a night or more! Maximum 10 guests/group. Each trekking guest is allowed
a light packing of maximum 10kg + four one litre water containers. This
back pack will be controlled before departure to make sure that unnecessary
objects are left behind and that necessary things are brought along. Naturally
necessary things, if missing, can be bought from Cape Peponi.
The group will be supported by one porter for every two guests; only if
the trek is longer then two days, in all other cases each guest carries
his/her own needs The porter's job is to carry light weight tents and
shower tents and their accessories, kerosene lamps, mosquito nets, ropes
and other useful things. They will also carry all necessary cooking gear,
mainly aluminum, a food supply for 5 days/person and extra drinking water
also for five days/person or max. 10 liters/person (they drink very little
themselves). Each porter will have a load of 25 - 30kg. Most of Cape Ltd's
trekking areas are penetrated by rivers and creeks, so during most periods
of the year all that is needed to supply good drinking water is water
purificators.
The comfort, the service and the food is to be as good as each safari
possibly may permit. A certain amount of meat hunting will sometimes take
place along the longer safari versions.
Radio contact will be held at all times with camps and paralleling 4x4s,
awaiting Dhow, pirogues and Allied Bush Pilots.back to

The 100
Hectares' Safaris
The Co. arranges several types of Safaris on Cape Ltd's own 100 Hectare
land and its surroundings wilderness and within other parts of the region,
which in general have a lot of wildlife on land very sparsely occupied
by people or "owned" by them.
These Safaris are often combination trips: e.g. the guests may book a
two day Safari where they travel to and from the 100 Hectares with the
Dhow, passing through the huge bay south and west of Kilwa Masoko and
an enormous Mangrove
delta, which takes 2 - 4h. During this time the guests may take part in
sailing and fishing.
The land Safari starts once the Guests have travelled through rivers in
the Mangrove forest that lead them to the mainland and an hours marsh
to the 100 Hectares' Banda Camp. This same day may very well continue
with a bit of trekking where the guests are accompanied by armed and experienced
Cape Scouts, who will also lead them back to the 100 Hectare Banda Camp
where the night is spent. The camp offers the guests comfortable Bandas,
"bucket shower", plenty of food (generally native dishes), a good and
quiet Bar with dining area all built on pillars and from where the evening
"traffic" of animals between the forest and the river may be seen up close.
Guests that in advance have requested for a night trek will have had this
arranged for them by Cape Scouts. This intense experiences where the nights
life is seen in its own unique and often brutal way will guarantee leaving
a memory for life.
The second day is otherwise the trekking day and a sunrise breakfast and
more "traffic watching" for those that are up even before then. The guests
are ensured a day of 8 - 10 hours in the bush before they start their
return to Cape Peponi. Supplementary days are just a request away from
reality. back to top
Crocodile
Night Safari on the 100 Hectares
An old "sport" that Mr. T Jansson used to practice but that in this part
of the world is hard to stumble across.
The initial such safari will take place on the Mavuji River only and even
though the safari may be dedicated to this night sport only it can and
will surely also be connected to trekking and other activities. Each large
pirogue that goes out on the river at night for such a safari will be
manned with two armed Cape Scouts and no more then three guests, also,
at no times there will ever be more then three pirogues participating
at the same time.
The pirogues will slowly follow the leading one while using torches directed
towards the river shore in search for crocodiles. Once one is paralyzed
by the light and a pirogue has crept up right next to it, preferably one
not biger then 120cm, the catch by one man's hands takes place! All crocodiles
caught are set free back into the river.
This type of safari will also be executed on other rivers such as the
Matandu and the Rufiji. back to top
The Selous
Game Reserve Safaris
The Selous (UNESCO World Herritage List, 1983, the biggest game reserve
in Africa!), a 55.000 km² reserve is also on the menu but always
with a minimum of an overnight stay. The reserve is either reached by
plane, 100 - 120km, or by 4x4, approx. 170km. Everything is included in
the price, even the park entry. The reserve visit itself is done by 4x4
and once inside, and if wished, also by foot and always with the protection
of the skilled and armed Cape Scouts and in this case also by accompanying
Selous Game Scouts.
The 4x4
Safari
For guests that come for a minimum of four days to a week. A few examples
follows on how these trips may be performed.
By 4x4 there, maximum six guests/vehicle, and by pirogue, maximum three
guests/pirogue, and 4x4 to return. The group leaves Cape Peponi after
breakfast in the early morning and arrive by the bandas at Cape Ltd's
Matandu Rivershore Camp in the afternoon if by 4x4, and if by plane approx.
one hour after departure from Kilwa Masoko's airstrip. In the latter case
4x4 vehicles will wait by the camp to take the guests inside the Selous,
the return thereafter has several alternatives.
Full board is included in any of the versions.
N.B. Matandu Rivershore Camp is one of three similar camps that Cape Ltd
wants to build in different places in western Tz within the next one and
a half years. The exact area where those camps will be built are the places
that the Co. will use for its non-permanent camps until the fixed ones
have been constructed. Two of those will be prepared with their own air
strips, the third may also receive planes but in this case the more suitable
for sea planes since this camps "air strip" will be the Rufiji River.
It is during the period of the year when the Matandu is high, approx.
five months, that the Selous Safaris use pirogues on the river as an option
to do a part or all of the distance from Matandu Rivershore Camp to Kilwa
Kivinje, a 250-300km trip. During the rest of the year the Co. use the
river-beds as much as possible as "roads" during the dry-season since
they often are better than the existing tracks and since it is, even then,
one of the most frequent places to run into wild life.
Cape Scouts going down the Matandu will make sure that the guests get
very tasty food and that they get to sleep in some extraordinary places
along the way. There are several such places since the river runs through
canyons, hills/mountains, forests and plains and pass several good rafting
places where the pirogues sometimes have to be pushed by on land. Due
to the fact that the trip is fairly tough going, the Co. will keep its
returning 4x4 nearby at all times in case they are needed. The road runs
near the river and the different crews will carry short wave radio communication
equipment. The nights spent at Matandu Rivershore Camp will offer a somewhat
more luxurious lodging when compared with the 100 Hectares Banda Camp.
The fauna varies from plenty of bird species, to the river's inhabitants,
to most of the African wild life that can often be spotted on the riverside
banks.
The nature within the Selous offers landscapes like high plateaus, tree
dressed Savannah and rain forest, and its wildlife includes most of Africa's
game including the White & Black Rhinoceros, herds of several hundred
elephants and packs of the otherwise almost extinct Wild Dog and so many
others.
Nights may very well be spent inside the Selous, which in this case will
be the same type of camps as the provisional one at the Matandu River.
If the guests are planning a longer safari in the Selous they will most
certainly be able to enjoy a meal from a fresh kill. The remains of the
animal will then be arranged in such a way it will attract any of Africa's
predators and this feast in the night may be seen by the guests from their
look out!
Obviously the more time spent in the Selous the more chance the Co. has
to offer the Guests several treks and trackings and/or turns with the
4x4, and therefore also the possibility to see as many animals as possible.
The 7 -
10 Day Trekking Safari
The trip will begin with a 4x4 drive to the Matandu Rivershore Camp where
one night is spent. The second day is the first day of a long and tough
trek of an average of 10km/day, those that have enough energy to side-track
may do so with Cape Scouts.
During this period the guests will cover the 100km distance between Matandu
Rivershore Camp and "Siguri Falls Riverlog Camp". The first half goes
North to Mkangira and from there the group cuts North-North-West and more
or less straight through central Selous to the camp. "Tired" guests may
choose to ride with the paralleling, support 4x4 vehicle(s) from the mid
point and almost all the way to the destination.
The return to Cape Peponi will be by 4x4 or with Cape Allied Bush Pilots.
A version, available soon, is to be done the same way to the camp but
instead of returning from here it continues in big pirogues upon the Rufiji
to a point before Stiegler's Gorge. The canyon that the Rufiji runs into
will at this point be climbed/trekked as to be able to pass the gorge
on its brim and therefore also near the burial site of the man from whom
the park got its name, Captain Frederick Courteney Selous who died here
in a battle against the Germans during the first world war. Once on the
other side the guests will enter the awaiting Dhow or other big pirogues
and during this the third leg, of approx. 250km to the river's huge delta
opposite to Mafia Island, they will pass the famous wreck of the German
1st. world war cannon boat, the Königsberger. Once upon the turquoise
waters of the Indian Ocean the guests will either return by Dhow and allied
dalladalla (minibus) to Dar, or go back to Cape Peponi by Dhow. No matter
what they do this last leg will still bring the guests passed several
gorgeous places for snorkeling! The trip will be about 21 - 24 days long.
Cape Ltd would like to mention that there is a shorter version to the
safari, which means that the guests would return approx. half way down
the Rufiji, or by Utete, go by vehicle to Dar Es Salaam. This would cut
the trip short by 5 days.
The Co, is looking into the possibility of offering river rafting within
the near future. It knows today about several good places including the
nearby rivers Matandu and Mavuji and of course Stiegler's Gorge's raving
waters cannot be forgotten!
It is clear that several combinations and solutions are available e.g.
fishing both at sea (around Mafia Island) and in the rivers where some
of the largest river fishes in the world may be caught, river rafting,
4x4, trekking, river diving, diving and/or snorkeling and why not end
it with a visit to the ruins of Kilwa Kisivani Island. Naturally not everyone
wants to or can do everything in one trip, but since several of the offers
are part of the trip, the guests will also get a chance to experience
them, the rest is really all up to the guests wishes and the time that
they want to spend here. back to top
The Para
Safari
To begin during the second half of 2001 or in the first half of 2002.
For guests that come for at least one week.
This Safari is directed towards a specific clientele, namely parachutists.
It is also a Safari that even beginners could do in the near future as
it will be possible to do a tandem jump with an instructor. We will give
you more information about the Para Safaries later.back

Bird Watching
Safaris
Bird watchers who are interested in the bird-life of Tanzania will be
able to go on several different Safaris that specialize in their specific
needs. The safaris can bring them to several different wetlands along
the Matandu River, to the Mavuji River's wetlands at its source, to the
Selous and its huge quantities of fresh water or why not to the havens
south and west of Kilwa Masoko that contain massive Mangrove belts with
their rich and very different types of bird species.
The days spent in any of the wetlands or on the coast may be adjusted
according to the guests wishes and here on Cape Ltd's pontoon camps, as
well as in any of Cape Ltd's camps the Bird watchers may spend unforgettable
moments. The Safaris will be accompanied by Cape Scouts. back
to top
The Havens
Safari
The only way to get there is by boat and since the Co. has access to several
dhows, and since the Co. has its own big Dhow and several pirogues it
really all depends on whether the guests are asking for nights at sea
in the havens and amongst its sand bank islands or near the Mangrove belts
or even inside them, or if they just want to pass them as a mixed trip
with time spent somewhere else e.g. the 100 Hectares?! The idea is that
no matter what the bird watchers (and of course anyone interested) need
to see a wide range of African bird life, both amongst the land species,
the ones that feed from the sea and the ones that then live entirely on
what the Mangrove forests brings them.
Like all other Cape Peponi safaris this one too will leave the guests
to experience several ways of travelling, and after leaving the dhow they
will therefore continue in pirogues through the Mangrove and up rivers
that are the actual continuations of rivers on land. Those "sea rivers"
sometimes last for several kilometres before reaching land, which is the
case of the one leading to the 100 Hectares. Once the guests are there
they will go for a shorter trek to the camp where they will spend the
night. The second day will be a longer trek along the Mavuji river or/and
it will continue upon the river with the pirogues.
As mentioned, if the bird watchers would like to spend an extra day or
even more on this trip there are several destinations that may be reached.
The Matandu
Safari
This safari's plan depends a bit on the bird watchers wishes and the season.
If they allow themselves to take a day or more extra then the wetlands
at the beginning of one of the Matandu River's branches may be reached
by pirogue, but only during the period of the year when the river is full.
If not these extra days, then the wetlands will have to be reached by
4x4 and once near them the guests will enter pirogues in order to continue
inside the richest parts of the area.
The time that may be spent here is far longer than this safari allows
but the Co. will still make sure that its guests get nothing but quality
time and that they will be shown all possible animal varities that inhabit
the wetlands. Obviously the bird watchers are there mainly for the birds
but in a region such as this you can not help witnessing a great deal
of other animals, including hippopotamus, crocodile, antelopes and so
many more, which naturally is the same for any of the bird watchers destinations
both at sea and on land!
N.B. The nights in the wetlands are spent in log camps/pontoon camps and
since several parts, even in these areas, are above the water level the
guests will also be taken on treks. back to top
The Mavuji
River & Wetlands Safari
There are two ways to get to these wetlands: one is by 4x4 then on foot,
the other is by dhow, pirogue and finally on foot. The season does not
matter in this case since the Mavuji River keeps water all along the year.
(cont.)
The 4x4 version is "lazier" while the pirogue version takes more effort
due to the time it requires and due to obstacles on the way that have
to be bypassed, what the "effort" does not include is paddling, but you
can if you like! Whatever the choice may be it is always possible to mix
the two different ways of going and leaving.
This safari lasts 4 days, therefore the bird watchers may take their time
and get enough quality time in each place. At least one night will be
spent in the wetlands log camp and normally the guests will also experience
the African night in what the Co. refers to as "sleeping Camps", which
are places that are frequently used by the Co. but that do not contain
any fixed personnel.
N.B. The above safaris also allow the guests to take part in a look out
from night covers, that are built especially to watch the animals that
only are active during the night. These moments often become very exciting
since these wetlands regularly are visited by lions that often do their
hunting during the night. There is surely a mosquito problem in these
areas and the Co.'s staff are very much aware of it, therefore the camps
have protections against the mosquitoes and the scouts themselves have
good knowledge in how to keep these insects away and how to protect oneself
against them. back to top
Hot Air
Balloon Safaris
Cape Ltd will have a great variety of short and plain balloon rides to
some very serious safari combinations both over ocean and land.
It is clear to the Co. that any of above versions of safaris will be able
to be combined with Hot Air Ballooning! To fly in silence over Tanzanian
coral reefs and islands on the way to a snorkeling and diving destination;
to cruise over rivers, forests, savhanas and hills on the way to a trek
of a lifetime, or to simply hang way up there in the blue skies is as
exhilirating as any peaceful experience can possibly get!
The ballooning is planned to become part of Cape Peponi's offers to its
guests from 2001, when Cape Ltd's friend who today is one of the worlds
major balloonists will join the project.back to top
Sailing
Trips
The Dhow will have multiple use such as: transporting guests to and from
Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar and even Mombasa to Cape Peponi during two - four
day cruises that will include the chance to enjoy several kinds of marine
sports; long cruises to such distant destinations as Mozambique, South
Africa, the Komore Islands and Madagascar; functioning as diving and snorkeling
station and as the CO's Deep Sea Fishing boat; taking guests on safaris
going up the big rivers Rufiji and Ruvuma; transporting materials and
goods for Cape Ltd etc.
The carpenters
of this 25+ ton Arab styled sailing boat are from Mafia island and amongst
the best found in East Africa. The building itself will take up to three
months and will most likely take place on the part of Kilwa Masoko beach
that borders Cape Peponi. We will let you know, when it`s ready.
This sailing
boat will be built following a standard look, which means that it is totally
open with a smaller rear deck for the Steersman/Captain. Cape Ltd Carpenters
will later fit an inboard diesel motor and a compressor, and built Double
Cabins and a fully covering deck.
